Principal Lorna Procter turned her lifelong interest in dance into creating a dance school that has set the benchmark for what can be achieved with hard work and commitment. Born in South Africa where she lived until the age of 12, Lorna moved back to England to continue her training at a local dance school. She underwent her three year vocational training at Merseyside Dance & Drama Centre, Liverpool. After graduating her teaching diploma with Distinction, she taught throughout the UK for two years at both pre vocational and vocational schools including Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre, The Hammond School, Liverpool Theatre School and Carmichael Theatre Arts. Lorna has also taken specialist workshops at The Northern Ballet School and other local schools and colleges.
Procter Dance Academy was established in May 2000 and demonstrates Lorna’s passion for teaching dance. Over these years the Academy has grown and flourished into a school of nearly 400 young dancers, many of whom have gone on to vocational level at specialist schools including The Royal Ballet School, The Hammond School, Elmhurst School for Ballet, Urdang Academy, Liverpool Theatre School and Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre.
